Terms of Service

Version 0.1

Draft. This document is not yet in effect, and highlighted items are still to be filled in.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and [[Company legal name]] ("Adki", "we", "us"). We run the Adki add-on for Anki, the Adki website and the services behind them (together, "Adki").

By creating an account or using the add-on, you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Payout Terms.

Adki is an independent product. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Anki, AnkiWeb or their developers.

2. Who can use Adki

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must live in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  • You may have only one Adki account, and each account belongs to one person.
  • The information you give us, including your date of birth, country and postal code, must be true.
  • You must not hide your real location, for example with a VPN or proxy, while you use Adki.

We may ask you to confirm any of this before we pay you.

3. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password private. Tell us at support@adki.app if you think someone else has used your account.

4. How earning works

Banner ads. The add-on shows banner ads while you review. The money those ads earn belongs to Adki. You do not earn from banners.

Surveys. At an interval you choose, the add-on offers you a paid survey from one of our survey partners, such as BitLabs. The survey partner decides who qualifies, and it may end a survey early if you do not fit the study (a "screen-out"). When you take a survey, you are on the partner's pages and its own terms and privacy policy apply there.

Rewards. When a survey partner confirms a completion, we credit your Adki balance. The Payout Terms explain how the amount is worked out, when it can be cashed out, and when it can be reversed. An amount shown before you start a survey is an estimate until the partner confirms it.

We do not promise any number of surveys or any level of earnings.

5. Review data

To check that earnings come from real study by a real person, the add-on records information about each card you answer, such as how long you spent and whether you used the keyboard or mouse. It never records the contents of your cards. Sending this information is a condition of earning. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is collected.

6. Rules

You must not:

  • use bots, scripts, macros, auto-clickers or any other tool that answers cards, takes surveys or views ads for you;
  • leave auto-advance or anything similar running to build up reviews you are not doing;
  • open more than one account, or use someone else's;
  • give false or careless answers in surveys;
  • click ads you have no interest in, or try to inflate ad views or clicks;
  • change, copy or interfere with the add-on, its ads or our servers;
  • use Adki for anything unlawful.

7. If the rules are broken

Our systems flag unusual activity for review. A flag pauses payouts on the account until a person has looked at it; nobody is banned automatically. If we find that the rules were broken, we may reverse credits, refuse payouts, close the account, and tell our survey partners. We will tell you what we decided and why, unless the law or a fraud investigation stops us.

8. The add-on

We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the add-on while you have an account. We may update the add-on, and some updates may be needed to keep earning. You can uninstall it at any time. Uninstalling does not close your account.

9. Changes and closing your account

We may change these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the add-on before it takes effect. If you keep using Adki after that, the new terms apply.

You can close your account at any time from the website or by emailing support@adki.app. The Payout Terms explain what happens to your balance.

10. Disclaimers and limits

Adki is provided as it is. Surveys, ads and payouts depend on third parties, and we cannot promise they will always be available.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount we paid you in the 12 months before your claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer law where you live.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by [[Governing law and venue]]. If you live in the United Kingdom or Canada, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of where you live.
